  • Tires turn over on the road

    A road to nowhere

    Leaving traces no one sees

    The pieces gone

    Gone are the remnants

    Of a life gone past

    Stories no one will read

    Trails never followed

    Follow the dream

    That sours as it ends

    Wake to a new path

    Down a different road

    A road not travelled

    But warn with use

    A place it goes

    Does not exist

    Exist in the now

    Forgotten in a day

    None can remember

    Why we left at all

  • The pencil point is dull

    Worn from years of sketches

    Faded to grayscale

    Black and white memories

    Views of obscure shading

    Achromatic twisted figures

    No color or movement

    Graphite on bristol

Deep in the fibers of pulp

    Layers of a point

    Once was sharp and fine

    Detailing life gone by

    Depth and contrast

    Meaning and interpretation

    An artist’s view

    Tainted by critics

    Peer further into the outline

    Delineate the truth

    How beautifully macabre

    The depictions turn real

    Shadow and dark entwine

    Filtered light illuminates

    The figures dance

    And the page is turned

  • I drive my armored vessel

As a tank across the sands

    I proudly bear the cloth

That was made by unknown hands

As feasts are brought before me

I’ve no thought of the starved

    For out of sacred forests

    My fortress must be carved

My world is seen as landscapes grand

    In symphonies of sound

I barely see the ones below

Whose wealth has not been found

I chip away at faded brick

    The mortar weak from age

    Many who see beauty there

    Of which I cannot gauge

    Kings and Queens bow before

    New leaders they have crowned

Minds and souls bought and sold

To this they are now bound

The common horde must hear my stance

    For I control the script

Plays performed as real as life

    My favor will be tipped

    I’ll pass on to eternity

    I have secured my fate

    For my beliefs are iron-clad

    It matters not my hate

  • Upon the sands I lay on back

    The waves as metronome

    Contemplating songs from wire

    Or leave well enough alone

I drink the sun through every pore

As well I drink my ale

Clouds sweep by and star peeks through

    As nature does unveil

Words fade in as groups go by

    Not enough to hear

The gist of talk to which they mean

    Will just remain unclear

A picnic lunch would be just fine

    A spread upon a spread

Things are here to fill my soul

    My appetite and head

    As sunlight drowns horizon far

    The landscape fades to fire

The colors wrapped around my dreams

    Within my own desire

Although its time to head for home

    I could not ever tell

I’d rather wed the lake herself

    And sleep with broken shells

  • Whether or not it will cooperate

    The weather, it’s tethered

To my mind, there I find

    It's all changed, rearranged

Back and forth from the extreme

    To the mild, my mood

Seems to follow, like a feather

In the gust, yet I lust

For a peek behind the clouds

    The illumination hides

Like a tacit secret, it must

    Be revealed to my insight

Nowhere in sight, but I fight

To crack the code, but whether

    It is possible, I'm buried

In the nether, deep under earth

What it's worth, no one knows

And so it goes, like the weather

    I'm just tethered

  • If the tears would end

    I could handle the pain

    They drown any hope

    Of living again

    They sore my eyes

    And drench my skin

    Like cold aching rain

    On rusting tin

    If the tears would end

    I could form a word

    Just a sound

    I need to be heard

    My vision is blurred

    Life is delusive

    Dark hides the truth

    As I stay reclusive

    If the Tears would end

    I could take a breath

    If just to exhale

    The feeling of death

    My eyes will not see

    The same as before

    Each time life closes

    A broken old door

If the tears would just end

  • My ribs make a circle

    That surrounds by breath

    The insufflation that seeps

In and out of my every thought

    My sternum holds tight

    The heart that beats

    On a flesh covered drum

    Despite shatters and breaks

    My skull is a tomb

    For a tormented mind

    With twisted nerves of fear

    And crushing thoughts

    My legs and arms extend

    My spine locks down tight

My neck and face surround the dark

Trapped within my cage of bones

  • While trying to fly, I learned how to see

All of the beauty hidden in me

While trying to fly, I learned how to hear

Voices not noticed, becoming so clear

While trying to fly, I learned how to crawl

Straining and struggling, feeling so small

While trying to fly, I learned how to walk

    Jealously watching the circling hawk

While trying to fly, I learned how to run

Still so far from the afternoon sun

While trying to fly, I learned how to leap

Gems I was learning were all mine to keep

    I learned many things,

and I knew it was near

    Strength in me building,

    I was losing my fear

    I humbled below

    The great open sky

    And that was the moment

    I learned how to fly

  • Fallen down from vast above

The skies have dropped their foe

As silent as a soaring dove

    We sink beneath the snow

Flakes of shimmer in the night

    And blinding light by day

Have halted all but winter’s blight

    And covered up our way

    Emerging out from solstice sloom

    We’re greeted by a mound

Of icy cold and frigid gloom

    That blankets every sound

    Muster we throughout the days

    Taking friend Jack’s bite

    Mumbling gripes and voicing nays

All bear the weight of white
